Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a distinctive type of healing bodywork based on the principles of traditional oriental medicine and is used in order to balance energy flows within the body, relax and stretch tightened muscles and mobilise and loosen joints. It has a wide range of applications ranging from alleviation of pain to stress reduction and relieving specific joint or muscle problems. Regular sessions help to calm the mind and promote a deep sense of relaxation and peace to a far greater extent than in other types of bodywork.

The treatment itself is carried out through loose comfortable clothing and involves the application of pressure to specific points on the body along with various combinations of muscles stretches and joint mobilisations techniques.

The holistic basis of oriental medicine also means that supplementary advice on diet and lifestyle may be given to help maintain and extend the benefits of each treatment.

Shiatsu is for everyone, from children to concert virtuoso's, from office workers to mothers-to-be, from manual labourers to dancers. All can benefit from this incredibly powerful yet gentle form of bodywork which everyone should experience to feel the deep and lasting sense of relaxation and release that can be gained.
